For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man (Matt 24:37-39)~~ Concerning Christ’s second coming, it is foretold that there shall be a great change, in order to the making all things new. Then they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds. At His first coming, He was set for a sign that should be spoken against, but at His second coming, a sign that should be admired. Sooner or later, all sinners will be mourners; but repenting sinners look to Christ, and mourn after a godly sort; and those who sow in those tears shall shortly reap in joy. Impenitent sinners shall see Him whom they have pierced, and, though they laugh now, shall mourn and weep in endless horror and despair.
Men of the world scheme and plan for generation upon generation here, but they plan not with reference to the overwhelming, approaching, and most certain event of Christ’s second coming, which shall do away every human scheme, and set aside for ever all that God forbids. That will be as surprising a day, as the deluge to the old world. They were secure and careless; they knew not, until the flood came; and they believed not. Did we know aright that all earthly things must shortly pass away, we should not set our eyes and hearts so much upon them as we do. The evil day is not the further off for our putting it far from us. What words can more strongly describe the suddenness of our Savior’s coming? Men will be at their respective businesses, and suddenly the Lord of glory will appear. Women will be in their house employments, but in that moment every other work will be laid aside, and every heart will turn inward and say, It is the Lord! Am I prepared to meet him? Can I stand before him? And what, in fact, is the day of judgment to the whole world, but the day of death to every one who is not in Him.
Yes, the Lord is coming and every day is one sooner –
No one knows the day or hour –
But Watch and Be Ye Also Ready
Will YOU Be?
Come NOW, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. (Isa 1:18-20)~~ God is calling us to come back NOW. He has reconciled us back to Himself and He is calling us to repentance and to choose life in Him that we may truly live. He is calling us NOW, while we are under conviction, not when we get ourselves ready but NOW! WHILE we were sinners He died for us, not when He thought we were ready, not after we completed our acts of penance, but WHILE we were in our mess. While our mess is in effect, right in the thick if it, while we are at our worst….God is calling us to repentance, to reconciliation, out of our convictions, NOW. Yes, He knows about it all, and He STILL wants us! Even though you have tried and failed and tried and failed and continue to do so, He still says “come”. We are so tired of trying to figure it out but He will never tire of working it out IF we will just come…and reason with Him…together right NOW. This was not meant for us to go at alone! The devil is a lie to tell you otherwise. The debt is paid in full and Jesus offers a perfect and clean slate by His hand. He is speaking NOW saying: I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee (Isa 44:22). There is the Lord’s offer. You can hit the RESET button right NOW! Just surrender to Him and yield to His will. Until we do these things our deliverance will always seem unreachable. Don’t wait for some specific time or signal or achievement – He’s looking for us NOW!
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee (Ps 91:5-7)~ How great is our God? How much will He look after us? He that by faith chooses God for his protector, shall find ALL in Him that he needs or can desire. The spiritual life is protected by Divine grace from the temptations of Satan, which are traps to lure us into the contagion of sin, which is a spiritually deadly state. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me (Ps 23:4)…
Yes, great security is promised to believers in the midst of danger. We will experience God’s grace while witnessing others that succumb; but wisdom should keep us from being afraid without cause, and faith should keep us from being unduly afraid. Whatever is done, our heavenly Father’s will is done; and we have no reason to fear but every reason to trust in Him, our protector. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust (Ps 91:2), For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock. (Ps 27:5). God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has made desolations in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; (Ps 46) – No matter what happens, when ALL ELSE happens – God is in Control
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient (Rom 1:28); Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6)~~
At times we may feel that we do not need God, but on the day when the storms of disappointment rage, the winds of disaster blow, and the tidal waves of grief beat against our lives, if we do not have a deep and patient faith, our emotional lives will be ripped to shreds. There is so much frustration in the world because we have relied on gods… rather than God. We have genuflected before the god of science only to find that it has given us the atomic bomb, producing fears and anxieties that science can never mitigate. We have worshiped the god of pleasure only to discover that thrills play out and sensations are short-lived. We have bowed before the god of money only to learn that there are such things as love and friendship that money cannot buy and that in a world of possible depressions, stock market crashes, and bad business investments, money is a rather uncertain deity. These transitory gods are not able to save us nor bring happiness to the human heart. Only God is able. It is belief, faith and reliance in Him that we must rediscover. With this we can transform bleak and desolate valleys into sunlit paths of joy and bring new light into the dark caverns of pessimism! (Martin Luther King, Jr- Strength to Love) God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways higher than our ways! Until we stop trying to show Him our plan and get to know His plan, our lives will be in turmoil as a result of our own choices!!!
We live in a world that is hungry and thirsty for so many things. We see people that are famished and parched for fame, position, power and riches. But God is always looking for people who are hungry for Him. Jesus said “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35). This is our invitation to come to Him. Jesus said that the one who comes to Him would He by no means cast away. In fact, Jesus also said “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matt 5:6).
Kind of like how your natural appetite works, you have to eat when you get hungry to satisfy that hunger and eventually you will get hungry again; you have to have a regular and sustained portion of God to be satisfied. But unlike your natural appetite where you have to stop taking it in because you get full – You never get to a point in God where you will be so full that you will not need Him anymore. And while God is always satisfying us, He is also continually increasing our hunger and thirst for still even more of Him. The more you hunger and thirst for Him, the more will He reveal Himself to you and the more you will yearn for Him.
With your food you get full and you get tired of it and it becomes boring and you sometimes get to a point of not even wanting to have that particular food anymore. But we will never ever be frustrated when we hunger and thirst for The Lord Jesus. As we hunger for Him more, He will fill us more. He will reveal Himself to us more and more as we thirst for Him. There is simply nothing more satisfying as the knowledge of who God is. Do you have hunger and thirst for the Lord? As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? (Ps 42:1-2). O Taste and see that the Lord is Good! – (Ps 34:8)
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored, and you shall be clean.” But Naaman was angry and went away, saying, “Behold, I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call upon the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place and cure the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. But his servants came near and said to him, “My father, it is a great word the prophet has spoken to you; will you not do it? Has he actually said to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. (2 Kings 5:10-14)~~ At some point in your life you’ve probably felt led to do something by God that seemed a little crazy or ridiculous at that very moment. Perhaps you asked God to do something in your life, but the initial outcome was not what you expected and you KNEW that the approach you took was the easy one that YOU wanted to take, rather than what you KNEW was the way God would intend! But you were not willing to humble yourself enough to submit to God’s methods. You wanted it how you wanted it, when you wanted it and the way you wanted it to come! When we ask God to do something in our lives we should never do it with an attitude or an expectation of exactly how and when He should do it. We are not greater than God and we must place our full faith in Him that He will do it at the right time and in the right way. We are not in charge. God is the one in charge and, each of us must fully humble ourselves before Him and realize that His ways are not our ways. Now we might see some successes in our lives doing things our way, but we always have snags along the way and more times our efforts fail us. But when we submit to the Will of God, we might experience bumps here and there as He removes from us those things that hinder our success… That we hold onto kicking and screaming until we realize they were what has held us back; but our end result is exactly what God intended for us! Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones (Prov 3:5-8).
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit; Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this (Ecc 7:8,10)~~
In our discontent, confusion and sometimes even our selfishness, we find ourselves apt to quarrel with God Himself and cry out upon the badness of our times, the hardships we have to go through and the waiting we have to endure to get to our blessings; when we have more reason to cry out for the badness of our own hearts; and even in these times we enjoy many mercies. We long for the goodness of former times; as if we didn’t have like things to complain of (that we did).
We find ourselves quoting even Christ to say “Lord if you would let this cup pass from me…”. Anything would be better than having to go through something bad just to get to the good! It’s a fact though, that our own impatience in going through… makes our trials harder for us than they need to be. We worry, panic and start trying to find our own way of getting to the finish – trying to go around the PROCESS – trying to avoid the ‘going through’ part. But in God’s infinite wisdom, He knows that our ‘going through’ is the best thing for us and while we might have plans of our own, God’s plan can’t be overruled. See, in quoting Christ, WE leave out the part that says “Nevertheless, not my will but THY will!” (see Matt 26:39).
If we would only understand the necessity of the “PROCESS”! We have to remember that weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Ps 30:5) – that’s a PROCESS. In fact, every blessing that God has ever delivered came as the result of a PROCESS. He could have, without a fraction of a thought, created the universe, but instead His PROCESS took six (of His) days. He could have instantly restored mankind after the fall in the Garden of Eden, but He took His creation through a PROCESS for the next few thousand years until the coming of His son Jesus! He could have simply ‘smote’ Pharaoh and the Egyptians and freed the Israelites but He took them through a PROCESS of crossing the Red Sea. As we go through the “PROCESS” we will find at the end that the event of our trials and difficulties is often ended better than we thought at first… we just need to not be weary in our well doing…because in due season (after the process) God’s promise will be delivered! Don’t tap out in the PROCESS but wait it out…endure it…run it with patience! And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise (Heb 6:15). Friend, God’s Word tells us over and over and over again…Believe It! If you have PATIENCE in the PROCESS, the PAYOFF is His PROMISE! Focus on your Faith and it will get you to the Finish!
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice (Eph 4:31)~~ Bitterness acts on the mind in the way poison acts on the body. Bitterness is that state of mind which willfully holds on to angry feelings, ready to take offense, able to break out in anger at any moment. It is resentful cynicism that results in an intense antagonism or hostility towards others.
The person who is bitter can be resentful, cynical, harsh, cold, relentless, and unpleasant to be around. These things lead to wrath, which is the explosion on the outside of the feelings on the inside. This unbridled wrath and anger often lead to brash self-absorption of an angry person who needs to make everyone hear and feel the pain of their grievances. Next comes slander…that speech springing from cynicism, bitterness and anger; designed to wound or injure others. All this then leads to a spirit of malice, which signifies evil-mindedness or feelings of intense hatred. This kind of attitude is sensual and devilish in its influences. Malice is a deliberate attempt to harm another person. The danger in succumbing to cynicism, bitterness and malice; allowing them to rule our hearts is that they are of a spirit that refuses reconciliation.
Hebrews 12:15 warns us to “see to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many”. The cynical, bitter person only sees their own feelings and doesn’t consider and may not even have awareness of the destruction of the lives they impact. Therefore, “every form of malice” must be done away with. We must always be wary of allowing “bitter roots” to grow in our hearts. God wills that His people live in love, joy, peace, and holiness—not in bitterness. Therefore, we must always watch diligently, pray frequently and always guard our hearts and minds…Neither giving place to the devil (Eph 4:27); And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you (Eph 4:32)!
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31)~~ Our heavenly Father knows there is a value in our learning to wait on Him, so He allows us to be placed in situations where we have no choice but to wait. I remember the days when we had to wait for dinner to be ready. My grandmother would start cooking early in the afternoon. She made everything from scratch, and it took time to chop, cook, simmer and serve. She was a fabulous cook, so the end result was fantastic. We can’t match the result of that effort today. We may try to duplicate it by popping food in the microwave or substituting one ingredient for another. We think we’ll arrive at the same end—but we don’t. Hurrying the process by taking shortcuts just doesn’t produce the same result. Some things just simply take time.
Waiting, is never easy. There is such a feeling of helplessness when we are forced into a situation in which we can’t do anything except wait! Waiting can be grueling whether you are sure of the outcome or not. We need someone or something to hold us secure while we wait. That someone is the One by whom all things consist and who holds all things together (see Col. 1:17). He is the One who brings the comfort and strength we need, even in the face of many stresses.
One definition Webster’s Dictionary gives for “wait” is “look forward expectantly.” Those who wait upon the Lord stay in a place of confident expectation. We may not know what will happen tomorrow, but we know Who holds tomorrow. We must remember that we are not waiting simply for an outcome; we are waiting on the Lord. And waiting on Him—no matter how long the process seems to take—will have the best results. If we depend on the Lord and look forward in hope and expectation, He will renew our strength. We will not fear or lose heart. Don’t give in to fear because you don’t know what’s coming, turn away from it and begin to wait—look with expectation—upon the Lord. He can turn things around and work them for good even in the worst situations. He will give you the peace and strength to step boldly into your future with the confidence that He holds the future and His results are best. Renew your strength by waiting on the Lord and meditating on His goodness. Thank Him that He is all knowing and all-powerful, and we are secure in Him. Thank Him for His faithfulness and ever abiding comfort even during the hardest of times. WAIT on The Lord!
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust (Ps 91:2) For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways (Ps 91:11) ~ For years I’ve seen many fall victim to things that can turn life upside down. I’ve even been in a few of those situations – this year being no exception. These days the enemy will try to confuse our minds in fear but remember that God will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in Him! I can share many instances where I’ve been at a point where fear and unsettling circumstances seem to be rampant, including right now, but ever since I’ve learned to call on that perfect peace, God has remembered me and rewarded my faith and trust in Him; And in that fearful situation I can have complete confidence and calm… Perfect Peace; and that problem that makes my experience unpleasant can be moved out of my way! It may not GO away, but it won’t be in MY way! Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident (Ps 27:3) – Friends, Praise God with me! Let this be a confidence for YOU: God is able and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him! Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But IT SHALL NOT COME NEAR YOU (Ps 91:3-7) – To God Be the Glory – Amen!
