For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us… (2 Cor 1:20)
We desire renewal to holiness as much as the joy of salvation. We now see, more than ever, what an unequaled heart we have, and sadly lament it. We see it is not in our own power to amend it, and therefore beg God would create in us a clean heart. When we feel this change is necessary, and read the promise of God to that purpose, we begin to ask it. We know we have by our sin grieved the Holy Spirit, and have provoked Him to withdraw. This we dread more than anything. We pray that Divine comforts may be restored to us. When we give ourselves cause to doubt our interest in salvation, how can we expect the joy of it? This makes us weak; we feel ready to fall, either into sin or into despair, therefore we pray that God uphold us with His Spirit.
The Spirit of God is a free Spirit, a free Agent Himself, working freely. And the more cheerful we are in our duty, the more constant we shall be to it. What is this but the liberty wherewith Christ makes His people free, which is contrasted with the yoke of bondage? It is the Spirit of Divine adoption by Him – spoken to the heart. Those to whom God is the God of salvation, He will deliver from guilt; for the salvation He is the God of, is salvation from sin! We may therefore plead with Him, “Lord, thou art the God of my salvation, therefore deliver me from the dominion of sin!” And when our lips are opened, what should they speak but the praises of God for His forgiving mercy! We have SO much more to praise in that God saw us in this state and set our blessings in motion even before our ask! While our actions and ways were justification for Him to withdraw from us, He stayed right there! Like the father welcoming the prodigal son home, God welcomes us back to Himself with open arms!
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh (Luke 6:45)~ Just like The tree is known by its fruits; what the mouth “commonly” speaks, generally agrees with what is most in the heart. If you ever want to really know a person, listen to them when they “really” speak. We are so full of unruly evil in our tongues that we have to script ourselves and write down our conversations to make sure we say what sounds good for the situation. But the truth will be revealed when we are just “being ourselves” and the words that come out will be spoken from the heart. That which is in the heart is sometimes so strong, even our own minds can’t control that which heads toward our mouths! The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell (James 3:6). Words we speak are one of the most powerful but also the most dangerous weapons we have. Remember, with words God created the universe but with words He also destroyed the earth by flood. The courses of life and death were spoken of Him and we who are in His image have the same power in our tongues. But unlike God, we aren’t perfect and shouldn’t even pretend to be. We are human just like the next person. We make mistakes, exhibit attitudes, let our pride get in the way and sometimes act like children, just like other humans. So our lesson here is that we have to give each other the benefit of these imperfections and be willing to take ownership of what we bring with our mouths that causes our relationships destruction and do the opposite. Rather than purposely destroy each other with the sharpness of our tongues, let us make that effort to intentionally uplift each other and make peace. Words have so much power – they can bring a person in the best of spirits to the point of depression – and they can bring a suicidal person down off the ledge and and have THEM motivating others to love life! So like grandmother used to say – if you don’t have anything nice to say…then… DON’T SAY ANYTHING! May the “Word” of Christ be so grafted in our hearts, that we may be fruitful in every good work…and life-giving in – Every – Word!
Do not hastily bring into court, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbor puts you to shame? Argue your case with your neighbor himself, and do not reveal another’s secret, lest he who hears you bring shame upon you, and your ill repute have no end (Prov 25:8-10)~ Isn’t it interesting that the person that loves to ‘call people out’ ends up being the one getting the “side-eye” from everyone else as the truly shameful person? What good does it really do to go after a person and publicly humiliate them for some offense? Your efforts to make them look bad are actually casting a negative spotlight on you! Why create all that drama?? All it does is fuel the fire even though in the moment it seems to feel vindicating. Conflict and strife are parts of life in a sinful world. They evoke strong passions, which cause us to rush to action. Some of us pride ourselves in being direct or outspoken or passionate. But a passionate response is usually a poor response. It is better to let passions cool before taking any action. The mind is usually not fully engaged, when the heart is pounding and the emotions are raging. Cool off first, before you say anything, do anything or even plan anything. Otherwise, unless you are very careful, small conflicts will escalate quickly into much larger trials. Kings go to battle slowly. Jesus said, “Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace” (Luke 14:31-32). Let this all be a lesson to us: If you have ever slept on a conflict, with a mind toward fearing God and loving wisdom, you woke in the morning with a very different perspective than what you went to bed with. This is wisdom. By allowing some time to pass, your passions cooled, your mind had time to clear foolish emotions, and the Holy Spirit could direct you. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord (Rom 12:19). Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God (James 1:19-20).
And so I plead with you this day as we go ahead: remain committed to nonviolence. Our aim must never be to defeat or humiliate the other man, but to win his friendship and understanding. We must come to see that the end we seek is a society at peace with itself, a society that can live with its conscience. And that will be a day not of the white man, not of the black man. That will be the day of man as man. I know you are asking today, “How long will it take?” Somebody’s asking, “How long will prejudice blind the visions of men, darken their understanding, and drive bright-eyed wisdom from her sacred throne?” Somebody’s asking, “When will wounded justice, lying prostrate on the streets be lifted from this dust of shame to reign supreme among the children of men?” Somebody’s asking, “When will the radiant star of hope be plunged against the nocturnal bosom of this lonely night, plucked from weary souls with chains of fear and the manacles of death? How long will justice be crucified, and truth bear it?” However difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long, because “truth crushed to earth will rise again. How long? Not long, because no lie can live forever. How long? Not long, because you shall reap what you sow. How long? Not long because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. (Martin Luther King, Jr.) –
Amen! We can’t grow tired of doing what’s right and give in to where we are failing – we MUST endure and fight the good fight until our Lord says so for HE will be the only final answer to all that is wrong! – Hatred is something that has gone on since the age of man and doesn’t want to go away any time soon BUT we have better choices we can make. We CAN do better despite our differences! We cannot accept the injustice that goes on in this world as the norm of these days – but since you’ve read this far read this: DEALING WITH THESE THINGS THROUGH HATEFUL EVIL VIOLENT WAYS AND ACTS AND JUSTIFYING THEM THROUGH THE MISUSE OF OUR LAWS IS NOT THE ANSWER!
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (Gal 6:9); And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise (Heb 6:15)Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Rev 22:20)
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Rom 8:28-34)~
God has the script to the entire universe at the command of HIS word. Nothing is left to chance, but everything in unison with His plan. Each of us has a place in that plan that will bring glory to His name, one way or the other and regardless of the world we live in. It is GOD that brought us THROUGH what we’ve come through. The fact that we didn’t perish in our trials is the testimony that opens the door for others to follow. What you’ve come through is simply your coming through but sets in motion God’s purpose in you to open the door and light the path for others. Don’t think it’s a small thing that these trials came to you… even moreso being that you endured and overcame them! That is God’s calling on you to shine your light in this dark world!
God sees in you that which will live to HIS calling! We are conformed to the image of Christ in this calling, so what you came through will surely leave scars and wounds but that is part of your testimony. Surely as Christ raised from the dead your salvation from your trials is a saving testimony to many. You might even feel like you’re not worthy of being such a representative of God. You probably look at your past and Satan with his ole lying butt done made you think you’re not good enough for God to love or bless, much less USE. But friend, God is for you…regardless of ‘you’ and your testimony is what He brought you through for! By the word of your testimony – of how God calls you out of everything that you are – and makes you part of His purpose – you are victorious! And man that has come through trials and gives a testimony of God’s glory is a man that the lost will follow. God doesn’t want ANY to perish and last time I looked, there are a LOT of souls that God wants to see alive (LOOK AROUND YOU). So God is calling quite a few of us to give these testimonies because HIS will is that none perish!
Now, don’t worry about being good enough for God’s purpose! If God required a perfect person to do His will on Earth, Jesus would have lived in His flesh much longer than 33 years and in fact would have to still be here in that form today. But He gives us the power in the Holy Spirit to overcome and show the way. No man has a Heaven or hell to put you in (nor does the lying devil) and no man can justify nor condemn the power of God’s Spirit in you! Christ spoke of this power we would be given – and what the Lord gives, no man can take away. God’s gifts are irrevocable! Your trial, your test, that which you MUST face… is your testimony. You are called to God’s purpose in conformance with the image of Him that created you. You don’t have a choice… It is God that chose you. It is GOD that qualifies and justifies you, that HIS name will be glorified…neither you nor anyone else…GOD! You’ve got that ENERGY and haters will try to drain you of it! Let no man judge nor condemn what God has placed in you and in all you do, do to the glory of God!
God Made YOU For This!
Chose YOU For This!
God Justified YOU for This!
And after we have suffered a little while, the God of all grace and peace, who has called us to eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us – 1 Peter 5:10
God comes to us in the brokenness of our health, in the shipwreck of our family life, in the loss of all possible peace of mind, and even in the thick of our sins. He saves us in our disasters, not from them. When we are in the furnace, our Father keeps His eyes on the clock and His hands on the thermostat. He knows just how much we can take. God does not lead us around life’s hardships, He leads us straight through them. But He leads us nonetheless! And amidst those hardships, He is nearer to us than ever before. Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, He is with us! Yes, when it gets THAT bad, God is still with us! Adversity is always unexpected and unwelcomed. It is an intruder and thief, and yet in the hands of God, adversity becomes the means through which His supernatural power is demonstrated best.
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed – 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
