What Do You Have to Say for Yourself? #WordsMatter

words

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them (Prov 14:3)~ How you use your tongue, one of the most difficult things to rule, dictates how you are treated in life. Both death and life are in the power of the tongue, and if you indulge yourself in talking, you will realize one or the other result. There are consequences to pay for your speech. Harsh and proud speech brings punishment and trouble; discreet and gracious speech brings blessing and safety. A fool cannot control his proud speech, and it causes others and him grief wherever he goes. When a fool talks proudly with his mouth, the pride in his words causes others to dislike and resent him. He loses friends and relationships, but in his ignorance does not know why. But a wise man is preserved and honored by his tongue. He uses speech for the good of others, and they love him for it. His gracious and kind words win the blessing and favor of others. He preserves his soul from much grief by wisely dealing with those around him. When a wise man graciously and humbly sets within himself to always advance others, they respond with affection and appreciation. He gains in friends and honor. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Eph 4:29). Knowing that what you say (or Post) represents you, what do you have to say…for yourself?

The Past Is What It Is – PASSED! Stop Trying To Go Back! #MoveOn –

cantgoback

Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old (Isa 43:18)~~ Good or bad, one of the biggest adversaries of our mind is our memory of the past. In the good, we cling to things we loved and we try to retain that part of that era of our lives. It gets tough though when circumstances that made those good memories possible change and we have to fight for what once was. We get so nostalgic about things and now they’re not what they used to be… what a disappointment! What an impact that has on us!

In the bad, we hold onto grudges of things or people that hurt us before and we keep giving the devil free advertising to come forward with us, making our present and future experiences suffer the wrath of our past hurt.

We are so dysfunctionally connected to our past that we can’t have a good life today for being so ‘clingy’ to what was; wishing the good thing never ended and trying to keep things like they were. While we eventually move past the longing for former good days, being content with feeling blessed by the happiness they brought us, the same can’t be said about getting past the pain of a bad experience. We fall into the trap of staying mad at a pain that is no longer affecting us and consequently the memory of that pain is strong enough to even keep us from loving!

The strongest force in the universe is love and the enemy knows when he stops us from loving, he has a blank slate to not only us, but everyone and everything about us. Friends we have to learn to remember our past and learn from it but also believe in the power of God’s love in us and faith in Him that today and tomorrow will be okay, regardless of yesterday.  We can’t be so focused on what was that we can’t see what is and what can be! God says: Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? (Isa 43:19). Stop bringing up what was and giving life to that which is dead and move on….you can’t keep what was and you can’t change it! But – You have the ability to re-create it or to heal from it.

Enjoy today and be blessed with right now and the future. There is so much that you are missing and letting get away by holding onto your past! God says the new thing shall spring forth. Our past is not something we should be carrying but that we should use it to move forward while we get better as a result of it. Good or bad, it should make us better, not bitter. We must have faith that things will be okay rather than fear that forgiving and releasing the bad will expose us to more bad or that the changes from the good cannot be good still. When we keep holding on to whatever past we have, refusing to grow and heal, we take away the significance of the blessings that are in our hand for today and tomorrow. Yes, we literally block our own blessings! God put the keys in your hand, gave you all the approval you need to drive and even placed you in the driver’s seat with a clear road, the ride is running but you won’t get in gear. You’re still saying you just can’t do it! You have to engage to move on. Things don’t just GET better with time, GOD sets things in order but YOU have to make the move!

The past is what it is … “passed”… and it CAN’T HURT YOU unless you decide you’re gonna try to live in it today. It doesn’t work like that! Look, I’ve had some good days and I’ve had some hills to climb, but I am faithful that good or bad, what was in my past is my catalyst to SPRING FORTH!  For the bad things, I’ve learned to forgive AND move on, because harbored hatred hinders healing…read that again: forgive AND move on…you must do both!  For the good things, I am inspired that God, who began that good work in me, will continue it, not end it… because His gifts are irrevocable… As I move forward until the day of the return of Jesus Christ!

Impossible is the Simplest Thing For God! #Nothing2Hard –

Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? (Jer 32:27)~ Isn’t it funny some of the things God has promised us or some of the things God has called us to do? What has God put on your spirit that has you thinking “God are you for real?” When we try to conceive it in our minds, it seems as if it can’t be done. But There is NO-THING too hard for God. This is where FAITH must supercede our so-called ‘common sense’. We will try to rationalize how it will come to be, but when we pray and leave it in the Covenant Keeping God’s Hands, then…. where for us it is difficult or even impossible, with God, IT IS ALREADY DONE! He SPECIALIZES in the impossible!! Abraham and Sarah thought it was strange to have children when they were almost 100! Lazarus had been dead for days! Everybody SAW Jesus die on the cross! They watched Him go up into Heaven on a cloud, promising to return the same way!!! But look! Be encouraged today! IF GOD SAID IT, JUST BELIEVE IT, AND LET THAT SETTLE IT. And if God doesn’t do something you expected, it’s very likely that He never promised it in the first place.

We Have Freedom But Our Hate Imprisons Us! #NoH8

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage (Gal 5:1)~ Christ will not be the Savior of any who will not own and rely upon HIM as their only Savior. No matter what the ‘world’ leads people to, or determines as the new ‘order’ of things, the Word of God remains as it was in the beginning and we must remain steadfast in the doctrine and liberty of the gospel. All true Christians, being taught by the Holy Spirit, wait for eternal life, the reward of righteousness, and the object of their hope, as the gift of God by faith in Christ; and not for the sake of their own works. Our ceremonies, traditions, self-assertions and rewritings of the ‘laws’ we live by have no impact nor influence on our salvation in Him. No outward privileges or profession, social or economic status, position nor power on earth will bring us to acceptance with God, without sincere faith in our Lord Jesus. True faith is a working grace; it works by love to God, and to our brethren.

Our two prime directives given by Christ were to love the Lord and to love others; that everything within the law hung on this (Matt 22:37-40). Our world has gotten away from those two directives and has spun out of control. We’ve made great advancements in knowledge and discovery and there are many great and amazing things man has achieved. There is nothing wrong with how far we’ve come as a people. But as far as we’ve come, we’ve simultaneously fallen back as more and more the love for and dependence on God in this world continues to diminish – in our achievements we have become self-reliant and self-absorbing. More and more in this world, we see the lack of love and concern for our fellow man. Never has the hatred between us been so prominent. Without faith working by love, all else is worthless, and compared with it other things are of small value. God’s promise restores ‘integrity’ back into His creation as it was at the foundation of the world. May we learn to be still; leaning not to our own understanding; but in all ways acknowledging Him and His finished work; and allow Him to do His works of restoration in us. May we be of the number of those who, through the Spirit, wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. May we recall and return to a point of living under the directives Christ put before us: “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind; Love thy neighbor as thyself”!

Stop Condemning Yourself Over What God Has Given You #Grace For! ~

For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? (Rom 7:19, 23-24); Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me (Ps 142:7)~

The knowledge of our own sin and shortcomings produces levels of guilt within us that can be so strong as to make us feel like God would rather discard us by the wayside than have us under His hand. Some of us have gone to the extremes of even imposing certain punitive acts upon ourselves whether in guilt or as our misunderstood interpretations of penance for our failings. When we sit down to think it over, the lies of the enemy will drive us to self-hatred and self-destruction as we look at ourselves as undesirable and unusable to God.

Friend, be comforted! You are NEVER beyond the love of God (Rom 8:38-39) for the Word says there is NO condemnation to those that are in Christ (Rom 8:1). There can be NO situation so distressing or dangerous, in which faith will not get comfort from God by prayer. Rather than show our troubles too much to ourselves, dwelling on them, which does us no service; we find comfort, by showing them to God, that we might cast the cares upon Him who cares for us, and thereby ease ourselves. NEVER should we allow any complaint to ourselves or others, which we cannot make to God. When our spirits are overwhelmed by distress, and filled with discouragement; when we see snares laid for us on every side, while we walk in His way, we may reflect with comfort that the Lord knows our path. Those who in sincerity take the Lord for their God, find Him all-sufficient, as a Refuge, and as a Portion: every thing else is a plot of the enemy; a refuge of lies, and a portion of no value.

It is our duty and of our interest to beg of God to set us at liberty from our transgressions, that we may run the way of His commandments. The Lord delivers us from the powerful persecutions of sin, and yet deals bountifully with us! He raised the crucified Redeemer to the throne of glory, and made Him Head over all things in Heaven and Earth. Now we, the convinced sinner have His salvation over our cries for help, and we are brought to praise the Lord in the company of His redeemed; delivered from this evil world, from sin and death, to worship our Savior forever!

Social Media – Time to #Clean Things Up!

social media clean up

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers (Eph 4:29)~~ People have always been rude, some will tell you that’s just human nature. But rudeness has gone to a whole new level especially since the advent of social media! What people seemed ashamed to say to someone’s face can now be easily posted on Facebook, or tweeted, or typed anonymously on a blog or web forum.

Why are people so mean today? Maybe we have watched too many reality TV slugfests; listened to too many politically charged sparring sessions on news shows and talk radio; found entertainment on all of the gossip shows on television or read too many hateful comments online. It certainly seems that all this toxic dialogue has desensitized us, and we just don’t care about or just don’t know how to bite our lips and say anything kind. And while I’d love to say that Christians are immune to this epidemic of harsh conversation, that’s just not the case. Sometimes we are just as mean as everyone else, even if we don’t drop F-bombs as often.

Many of us used to hear from parents and grandparents the old adage “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all!”. Yes, there used to be rules for arguing, but today— the gloves are off, all verbal, written, texted, tweeted posted, snap-chatted and kik’ed weapons are allowed and there are no referees. It’s an all-out free-for-all!

I’m not saying social media is all bad, but how we’ve come to use it reveals a dire need for humanity… What we need is a restoration of the qualities of the great commandments of our Savior – “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself (Matt 22:37,39); What we need is a revival of genuine love for ourselves and each other. God has already put the capacity in each of us – but it’s now our choice to make use of it that will make the difference. If we would channel our energies for tearing each other down into building each other up – what would the world then be? How could you change your social presence? What if you cleaned up what you have loading into your feed? Sure, you’d probably lose a handful of followers, but what would that do to your daily life – how would that clean up what you’re taking in…and ultimately dishing out every day?

Get off the “My-Way” – Take God’s Way to #Peace –

highway_exit_signs

There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death (Prov 14:12); Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble (Ps 119:165 ESV)~ God promises us a giant helping of peace when we do what His Word says. Following God’s precepts helps us make fewer mistakes, and we no longer have to worry about “stumbling” or getting hurt because of bad decisions. It’s like the guidelines we establish for our children such as watching for cars in the street, not playing with fire and always walk when you have sharp objects; there are things we know in our wisdom as parents that are beneficial to pass on to our children for their protection and care. When they live according to the wisdom in which we raise them up they don’t depart from this wisdom and they live better lives. Contrarily we see those that live a life of defiance and end up living in tumultuous situations and disgrace. Living according to God’s Word allows His peace to rule our hearts. As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him (Ps 18:30); The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes (Ps 19:8).
