Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated (Dan 3:19)~ Demonic opposition is hard at work to force us to turn to ways opposing God’s will. Mankind creates reasoning and by “the law of the land” the devil tricks man into thinking that what’s always been wrong is now right. But the Word says “All things are lawful; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful; but not all things edify” (1 Cor 10:23)~ just because it’s the thing that everybody is doing doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do. Just because there’s a law supporting it and it’s the ‘way the world is’ doesn’t mean it’s good for you or that you have to conform to it! Godly convictions are always unpopular and always yield to persecution by the popular crowd or the crowd that supports the new ‘status quo’. Many out of fear of this persecution simply conform; relinquishing their own convictions and giving in to the pressure of a world that bows down. God gives us a means to withstand the heat – He doesn’t necessarily take us OUT of the heat, but He sustains us IN it – even if the pressure is enough that others succumb to it and try to force us into it, we have in Him, what it takes to stand in a bowing world! In Him – the ‘heat’ of the world will do no harm to us – And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them. (Dan 3:27); Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Eph 6:10-13) … in a bowing world!
