It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High (Ps 92:1)~ Let us give thanks every morning for the mercies of the night, and every night for the mercies of the day; going out, and coming in, let us bless God; As He makes us glad, through the works of his providence for us, and of his grace in us. There are many who know not the designs of Providence, nor care to know them, those who through grace do so, have the more reason to be thankful. This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. (Lam 3:21-23). I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Ps 34:1).
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great. Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip. I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them. And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they are fallen under my feet. For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me (2 Sam 22:36-40)~ God does not call you to something with the intent to see you fail. His Word does not return to Him void but it accomplishes and prospers in that which He has determined. When God puts you in a place, you are part of His will and you will be able because He is able – doing all things through Him that strengthens you. Your adversaries will not prevail against you but will themselves find peace with the God you serve. When you are called by God to be a part of His will, you are not expected to come prepared. God doesn’t have pre-qualifications for choosing you. You don’t have to be approved by man.. God will make sure you are qualified, justified and fortified for victory because in it all, His name will be glorified! And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28). If God called the qualified, He wouldn’t have anyone! God qualifies the called! You need only be to willing to answer! When He calls on you, don’t worry about how you will do it… Just say “Yes Lord” and He will do the rest!
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name (Ps 100:4)~ Yes, God’s presence has a gate. But you have the keys to enter freely: thanksgiving and praise. When you praise God, It shows you TRUST Him. It shows that you BELIEVE His promises to carry you through; you focus on His proven character and His faithfulness to His promises. Praise demonstrates that we put more trust in God’s promises than in our problems, and that is faith. And our Lord responds to faith! How does He respond? Well, we believe that in Him, our victory is already done.. When we praise Him, show our trust and faith and truly believe and are thankful to Him for what we have faith in, blessing His name, He clears our vision of those things that hinder us…saying “Behold, I am doing a new thing, it shall spring forth, do you not see it? (Isa 43:19)” then, it all becomes clear to us! Do you want clarity of what God has already done? Then PRAISE HIM and believe Him today! Of course, you don’t HAVE to enter by the gate. You can stand stubbornly outside the walls, hoping to get God’s attention by the volume of your complaining. The more you remind God of what ‘is not’ in you life, the more you are denying what He says ‘IS’. No wonder He seems so quiet…you don’t even believe…and your complaining shows it! Where is your FAITH??? If you want His attention, stop complaining and start praising Him and thanking Him for who He is and what He has already set in eternity for you. So are you ready to “see” it?
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine (2 Tim 3:16; 4:2)~ There is a word IN the Word for every situation in life and we are to use it to keep us on the right path. And while there is no across the board right or wrong time or situation where a particular scripture’s guidance applies, we must however be proper in our intent when we present it to others. If we use scripture to beat up on others for what we perceive as their shortcomings or faults, are we benefitting them and bringing them TO the Lord or are we pushing them away from Him as we step on their toes and judge them by the Word while appearing to exalt “ourselves” and our self proclaimed knowledge over them? Furthermore, ask yourself where YOU stand because surely as you pass judgement with the Word, the judgement of that very Word will be on you. Are you ready to stand accountable? Can you drink from that cup you serve? Putting the Word in someone’s mind is not done by hitting them over the head with it!!! Share your point with all consideration, humility and patience; being beneficial rather than judgmental and willing yourself to stand under its doctrine! As you stand ready to stone someone, ask yourself if YOU are totally blameless, without vice or compromised integrity. No ‘person’ may see you act nor hear your thoughts, but are you worthy to chuck that piece of concrete at someone else?
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled (2 Cor 10:4-6). Your thought life can be brought into submission – You can win at warfare when you realize that it all starts in the mind and when you overcome that attack on your mind, when you stop worrying, and start praising – when you stop thinking about the troubles, the people, the lies, the stresses – those things that come against you trying to kill you in your mind, steal your joy and destroy your hope. You can literally change who you are by changing what you allow into your mind and what you allow to control the thoughts of your mind – whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, THINK on these things (Phil 4:8) and be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Rom 12:2). When your mind and focus are on the Lord and the victory He has already given you – when you subdue those battles of the mind with the already finished work of our Father – You will not sweat the small stuff! He keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him; because they trust in Him (Isa 26:3). May the peace of the Lord keep you and keep your mind at peace!
And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? (Luke 12:25)~ What someone said; what someone did. How they make us feel… how they upset, disrespect or annoy us. What didn’t go our way…what was a challenge for us. We have so much more to worry about than these little distractions. What benefit is there to focus on all of that negativity?? If you expect to be happy and enjoy your life you must master not allowing small stuff to bother you when it occurs. So many of us get so bent out of shape over the small stupid things that when you think about it mean absolutely nothing. Stop allowing words, gossip and negativity to bring you down. Stop worrying about what other people say, think and do. People say and do mean things to you because they are subconsciously casting the feelings of themselves onto you. When things occur and you have no control over them, just keep it moving; rather than expend energy on those things you couldn’t even change if you wanted to. God has called you BLESSED. No weapon formed against you shall prosper!! That doesn’t mean there won’t be weapons; it means that things that come against you will fail because you are in Christ (Isa 54:17 knew it beforehand!). But it’s all on you…the more you focus on negativity, the more it impacts you. The less mess you allow to trickle through your life, the more blessed your life will be! Resist the devil and he will flee!
O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good; God of gods; Lord of lords; who alone doeth great wonders; that by wisdom made the heavens; that stretched out the earth above the waters; that made the sun to rule by day; the moon and stars to rule by night. O give thanks to Him who remembered us in our low estate; And hath redeemed us from our enemies; Who giveth food to all flesh; O give thanks unto the God of heaven for HIS MERCY ENDURETH FOREVER! (From Ps 136)~~ God’s very being is absolute GOOD! He does not merely do good nor does He simply demand it from others; rather He IS good. No deed or motivation originates with Him that does not exist as an expression of generous goodness! His every action and impulse are profoundly good. My favorite part about this all is that God’s goodness does not have an expiration date! His love does not reach some moment where we discover that it has been finally exhausted. While we are fickle and faithless; becoming tired of doing good because of what we may perceive as a lack of reciprocal benefit, God is steadfast, unflinching, consistent and always pressing toward the ones on whom the eyes of love have been set (Yes, US)!! In this world where everything seems in flux and unreliable, God’s love is absolutely, surely and infinitely true and stable. As we look over the seasons of our lives, our joys and sorrows are made right and are in an unending abundance of grace! We should be always encouraged and assured that God is with us! His love will never diminish for us or abandon us. HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER!
