See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is(Eph 5:15-17)~ we are to do more than just live and exist from day to day; but LIVE the life we have been given. Not in the sense of recreation, enjoyment and entertainment as many think to be the intent of ‘living it up’, but with awareness of the blessings and opportunities we are given by God and a purpose to His glory. Many of us sit back and simply complain about how unfitting life is and we resign to just focusing on self-motivated values (I’m just gon’ do me!). Then we sit back and complain because life isn’t giving us what we want. Our self-centeredness tells us to focus on ourselves and what WE want to do and our purpose is about what we get out of life! God’s purpose for us is different. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways (Isa 55:9). God intends that we all make a difference in each others’ lives and that as demotivating as things around us may sometimes be, we seek through Him, the purpose of our being to make a difference. We are called by Christ to go to the ends of the Earth with a message… we must impact the world in which we live, not just exist in it! To just ‘live our lives’ will not get us anywhere in His commission; we fulfill no purpose by just focusing on ourselves! Scripture speaks of the Sons of Issachar “who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do” (1 Chr 12:32). Those who make a positive difference in their world are not the ones pining away for better days, or waiting idly by for the tides of fortune to change, but those who boldly face the unique challenges and opportunities of their own generation. David took what was given to him, understood the times in which he lived, and faithfully served his own generation by the will of God (Acts 13:36). We must seek out the possibilities that the days we live in offer for the expansion of God’s kingdom. Of all the ages throughout history you could have lived, why did God allow you to be born at this time? Are you discerning the days in which you are alive? Do you recognize the unique possibilities that lie before you? Consider the purpose and seize the opportunities God has provided and in all you do, fully live the one life you have to the glory of God!
