By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land (Ps 137:1-4)~~ One of the tactics of the enemy is to make your situation so difficult and strenuous that you will literally begin to doubt the faith that has gotten you to where you are now…that there is no legitimacy to any of the things of God that you claim to believe. You are put through embarrassment and shame and ridicule and the enemy will make light of the relics of your faith to see what your response is going to be…literally saying to you “where is your God now?”. You start to wonder how are you supposed to believe in, praise and trust God in all of this…questioning your own convictions. This wears on you, stresses you out, physiologically and psychologically you are worn down. You now become accepting of your situation and even make excuses for why you haven’t come out of it! Not that you can’t…but you… “haven’t”. .. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me (John 5:7). Depression, Misfortune, Misery…Don’t let this break you! Don’t allow the enemy’s tactics to cause you to just sit in your mess. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful (Ps 1:1). Don’t just sit there… GET UP! Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk (John 5:8). GET UP – God has a plan for you (Jer 29:11) Friend, these things came along that you may discover HIS power. He may allow you to go through it, but He’s got a blessing to get you THROUGH it. Want to discover that blessing? GET UP!
