Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God? But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased (Ps 115:2-3); ..Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly (Job 1:21-22)~ Time and time again we find ourselves looking upon devastation and loss to mankind… Whether from natural disasters or from the evil that exists in the world driving the hearts of people in hatred, violence and other mean-spirited acts. People today seem to actually set out…yes, they actually plan to do evil and purposely fight against what is for the good! In all of the resolve of humanity, nothing truly prepares us for what we are now seeing! One thing for certain, whether it’s the minor infraction or the terrible tragedy, there seems to be no shortage of wrongheaded reactions that spring to the forefront. The unbeliever and even (unfortunately these days) the occasional “believer”, illegitimately robbing concepts of “good” and “evil” from the Bible, will adduce the tragedy to “prove” the absence of God. They see in and extract from the world’s tragedies their own deduced proof that there is no sovereign and loving God, but a wrathful unconcerned super-tyrant that allows or even brings destruction and disaster as punishment for the iniquities of mankind…. We don’t always understand, but we have to accept what God “allows”; no matter how tough it is to experience! He is sovereign .. Absolutely righteous… He is God all by Himself…owing explanation or reason to no one. We must humble ourselves under the hand of God. Even if under all of our losses, we are reduced to our lowest and most ‘naked’ state. The same who gave hath taken away. This is the hardest of times for us to try and understand but even in this day, we must look above the circumstances, and keep our eye upon Him. Afflictions must not divert us from, nor turn us against, but quicken us to God. If in all our troubles we look to the Lord, He will support us because He is righteous, because He is good, because He is God! Hope in this truth is the strength of our resolve: I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Ps 27:13). All we have is from His gift and by His grace we are reserved to salvation! Discontent and impatience charge God with folly and incite man’s wisdom as the perceived greater good. Against these things we must carefully watch! God is not mocked and He’s CERTAINLY no fool! Even in our worst of circumstances, God alone is worthy of all glory, honor and praise! For those families and friends that are affected by the tragedies of these days…may all find true rest and peace in the arms of The Lord! May the unbeliever experience a life-changing revelation. May we all not wait until tragedy strikes to seek the face of The Lord.
