I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all (Ecc 9:11)~~ Our success seldom equals our expectations. We must use our means, but not trust to them. If we succeed, we must give God the praise; but if crossed, we must submit to His will. Things are not always going to go the way we’d like (in our flesh) to see. We will do all the right things and still have things not work out (in our point of view). We don’t want to however make the mistake of turning to our own devices to achieve the goal, no matter how much we WANT it. Desire is not a right to possession! Those who put off the great concerns of their souls, and go their own way to achieving their comforts are caught in Satan’s net, which he baits with some worldly object, for which they reject or neglect the gospel, and go on in sin till they suddenly fall into destruction. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isa 40:31). We must endure, trusting in The Lord that our setback is a setup for the manifestation of His promise. This trust in Him will embolden us to stand firm in adversity; to keep going when we feel in our flesh like we are tired and don’t want to continue; to persist in the RIGHT ways, even when the results aren’t quite what WE seek. LOVE your spouse and children even when they don’t seem to appreciate you. BE a good friend to that person that needs it, even if they don’t always thank you. DO your job responsibly, remembering the privilege you have to even be employed! And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Gal 6:9).
